UNCITRAL Efforts and Their Impact on Bahraini Bankruptcy Law: Current Status and Future Vision

The College of Law at the University of Bahrain, in collaboration with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), hosted a seminar on “UNCITRAL Efforts and Their Impact on Bahraini Bankruptcy Law: Current Status and Future Vision” on 22 October 2024. The event featured faculty from the University and professors from other universities, examining UNCITRAL’s role in shaping insolvency law globally.

The symposium discussed key UNCITRAL texts, including the Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency, the Model Law on Enterprise Group Insolvency, and the Model Law on Recognition and Enforcement of Insolvency-Related Judgments. Speakers highlighted the positive impact of these texts on Arab States and explored how they could inform reforms to Bahrain’s bankruptcy system.

The event strengthened academic dialogue, enhanced understanding of international insolvency frameworks, and provided insights for aligning Bahrain’s bankruptcy legislation with global best practices, reinforcing the role of academia in shaping effective and transparent legal systems through international collaboration.
