University of Bahrain Announces Readiness for the Academic Year 2025/2026

– Launch Of Three New Programs in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies
– Integration of a Clinical Simulation Laboratory at the College of Health Sciences by the end of the year
The University of Bahrain (UOB) has announced the completion of its preparations for the upcoming academic year 2025/2026 following a comprehensive series of enhancements, including infrastructure upgrades, facility renovations, and the strengthening of technical and security systems.
These efforts are part of the university’s broader strategy to enhance academic excellence, develop its campus environment, and advance technological and student services, ensuring a stimulating and supportive learning experience for students, faculty, and administrative staff.
In this context, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, emphasized the university’s ongoing commitment to providing a progressive academic environment that places students at the center of the educational process, and equips them with the tools, skills and knowledge that empower them to achieve academic and professional success. He added that the early preparations for the new academic year reflect the university’s dedication to fulfilling the university’s national mission of advancing higher education and producing highly qualified graduates.
As part of these preparations, UOB completed the maintenance and renovation of 28 buildings and 14 student lounges, in addition to upgrading 9,000 square meters of green spaces and planting 430 new trees, creating a more welcoming and comfortable campus environment. The university has also expanded parking capacity, improved pedestrian pathways, and installed new directional signs across the campus to ensure smooth mobility for students and visitors.
Dr. Al-Ansari highlighted that the university has opened new dining facilities within the campus to meet the diverse needs of students and reaffirmed UOB’s dedication to providing comprehensive services that enrich the overall student experience.
For new students, UOB has enhanced its Foundation Program, designed to facilitate a smooth transition into university life and develop essential academic competencies. Based on placement test results, students are classified into Pre-Intermediate or Intermediate levels, with an exemption exam available for high-achieving students. The program comprises 16 credit hours: 12 credits in English language courses and 4 credits in personal skills development.
UOB President affirmed the university’s continued efforts to enhance its academic offerings and introduce new majors that meet the evolving needs of the labor market. As part of these efforts, the university has launched two new postgraduate programs, bringing the total number of postgraduate programs to 54. At the undergraduate level, the university now offers 47 programs, many of which have undergone significant development, and have been placed on the National Qualifications Framework to ensure they remain current and competitive. It also introduced a new undergraduate program this year.
The new postgraduate programs are: Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence at the College of Information Technology, Doctor of Philosophy in Psychological Counseling at the College of Arts, and Bachelor of Science in Public Health (Completion) at the College of Health Sciences.
The university has also introduced an enhanced Student Information System to streamline academic processes for students and faculty members. Additionally, it upgraded its official mobile application, “UOB App”, providing students with convenient access to class schedules, lecture locations, attendance tracking, grade reports, and a wide range of student services supporting their daily academic journey.
Furthermore, the university has completed the deployment of a next-generation wireless network powered by Wi-Fi 6E technology, ensuring faster and more reliable connectivity across all university facilities, reflecting UOB’s commitment to digital innovation as part of its strategic plan.
Among its key future projects, the university is establishing an advanced Clinical Simulation Laboratory at the College of Health and Sport Sciences. Equipped with advanced medical manikins and simulation technologies, to enhance practical training in the field of nursing. The facility is expected to be inaugurated by the end of 2025.
UOB will welcome its new students through its Annual Induction Program, which includes interactive sessions and introductory activities designed to integrate students into university life and provide them with an overview of the university environment and its academic and social requirements.
