University of Bahrain Concludes 25th “Chinese Bridge” Competition and Honors Winning University and School Students
The University of Bahrain celebrated the winners of the 25th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Language and Culture Competition for foreign university students, held by the Confucius Institute under the slogan “One World, One Family”, on Thursday (June 11, 2025).
The Competition witnessed the participation of 200 students of all levels. The program of the Chinese Bridge Competition included three categories: Chinese Speech, Talent Showcase, and Knowledge of Chinese Culture. The students showcased their skills and talents through hand-made art, paper crafts, creative bilingual learning methods, poetry, and guzheng performance.
At the local level, in the university category, student Saja Khalil Hamad Alshroush of the University of Bahrain won the title of Champion and will represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the finals of the 25th Chinese Bridge Competition in China.
Ayah Nasser Ahmed Shamlooh of the University of Bahrain won first place, and second place went to Ali Abdulmajeed Dailami and Aimena Harun of the University of Bahrain. Third place went to Mohammed Benshams, Amna Adalat Khan, and Baneen Abbas Jaffar of the University of Bahrain. Mariam Mohammad Azeem and Hussain Ali Hujaeer of the University of Bahrain won participation awards.
Mr. Ni Ruchi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presented the awards, and a number of UOB deans and officials from private schools in Bahrain attended the ceremony.
The ceremony also included awards for the distinguished contributors to culture exchange, the distinguished learner, and the student representative in the delegation to China program.
The ceremony included performances by the winning school students from all levels as well as university students. This annual competition is part of efforts to strengthen cultural and linguistic exchange between China and countries around the world, giving students the opportunity to showcase their Chinese language skills and their understanding of Chinese culture.
