University of Bahrain Concludes “Pink University 2026” Women’s Cancer Awareness Campaign
The University of Bahrain concluded its “Pink University 2026” campaign, held throughout October to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month under the theme “Her Story, Our Strength… An Early Step, a Greater Hope.” The campaign aimed to raise awareness of women’s cancers and promote prevention and early detection among students and staff.
Awareness activities were held across several colleges, highlighting the importance of regular self-examination, medical screenings, and healthy practices, while addressing common misconceptions about breast cancer.
As part of the campaign, the University’s Public Health Committee hosted a panel discussion on 21 October 2026, titled “Women’s Cancers: From Prevention and Early Detection to Treatment and Comprehensive Care.” The session featured Dr. Noof Al-Shaibani, Consultant in General Surgery, Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, and Reconstructive Surgery, and Professor Basil Rafiqi, Consultant in Surgical Oncology, both from the Royal Medical Services.
The discussion addressed warning signs, advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment, and the importance of comprehensive patient care. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with specialists and raise questions about the disease.
The campaign reflects the University’s commitment to promoting health awareness and social responsibility, encouraging preventive practices and early detection to support the well-being of its community.
