University of Bahrain Designs Assessment Rubrics to Measure Student Performance

The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) at the University of Bahrain, in collaboration and coordination with the College of Arts, delivered a specialized workshop for faculty members on designing student performance assessment instruments. The workshop titled: “Designing Assessment Rubrics to Measure Student Performance in University Education”, was held on Tuesday (December 2, 2025).

Dr. Hasan Mohsin Alwadi, Senior Fellow of the AHE and Coordinator of the Academic Practices Program at UTEL, presented the workshop and reviewed the various types of assessment rubric designs and the purpose of each design, as well as the essential elements that must be included in every template.

The workshop featured several interactive and practical activities, through which participants were able to design components of an assessment rubric related to their own courses. They also analyzed other models to identify flaws and weaknesses and learn how to improve them.
