University of Bahrain Graduate Wins the “Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature” from the Arab Center for Geographical Literature
Samia Khalid Abdullah, a graduate of the Master’s Program in Arabic Language and Literature at the College of Arts, University of Bahrain, has been awarded the “Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature” by the Arab Center for Geographical Literature (Rihlat al-Afaq), based in Abu Dhabi and London, in the Studies category for the 2025/2026 cycle.
Samia received the award for her study entitled “The Aesthetics of Description in Al-Tarjumana al-Kubra fi Akhbar al-Ma‘mur Barran wa Bahran by Abu Al-Qasim Al-Zayani.” The winning works are published by Al-Suwaidi Publishing House in partnership with the Arab Foundation for Studies and Publishing.
A special award ceremony to present the prize is scheduled to be held in May 2026.
It is worth noting that this study originated as a master’s thesis in Arabic Language and Literature submitted to the Master’s Program at the College of Arts, University of Bahrain, under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Wais.
