University of Bahrain Holds Workshop on AI in University Teaching

The University of Bahrain held a workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence in University Teaching: A Framework for Evaluating Tools and Redesigning Assessment” on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

The workshop introduced the TEACH-AI framework, which helps faculty select and evaluate AI tools against five criteria: truth and accuracy, effort, access, confidentiality, and transparency. It also classified AI tools by educational use and showed how they can support planning, teaching, assessment, feedback, and administrative tasks, with attention to discipline-specific needs.

Given the importance of academic integrity, the workshop outlined five approaches to redesigning assessment so it better evidences genuine student learning: course-specific tasks, assessment of the learning process, live or oral components, local or personal specificity, and explicit evaluation of how students use AI.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Wedad Mohamed AlJawder, Assistant Professor of Administrative and Technical Programs at the College of Applied Studies, as part of a series of workshops conducted by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL), aiming to advance academic excellence, foster innovation, and promote effective teaching practices.
