University of Bahrain Introduces Alternative Assessment Methods for Emergency Online Teaching

The University of Bahrain held an online workshop on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, titled “Alternative Assessments for Emergency Online Teaching.”

The workshop reviewed assessment methods aligned with academic standards that are suitable for e-learning environments during emergency situations. It emphasized maintaining the quality of education while reducing stress on both students and faculty members.

The session highlighted that traditional exams may be impractical under such circumstances and stressed the importance of adopting flexible assessment approaches that ensure continuity of learning, consider humanitarian aspects, and uphold academic integrity.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Basma Taqi Al-Najar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the College of Science, as part of a series organized by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) at the University of Bahrain.
