University of Bahrain Legal and Human Rights Clinic Promotes Human Rights and Climate Awareness

The Legal and Human Rights Clinic at the College of Law, University of Bahrain continues its mission to advance human rights education, practical legal training, and community engagement.

In the 2023–2024 academic year, over 5,371 students across all colleges completed HRLC107: Principles of Human Rights, a mandatory course offered in Arabic and English with pre-recorded lectures on the University’s e-learning platform. Additionally, 93 senior law students participated in LAW408: Legal Clinic, a 6-credit course combining lectures, professional development workshops, and practical training at government institutions, law firms, and civil society organizations.

As part of their training, students became integrated as interns at partner organizations, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to real projects. Community initiatives focused on climate change and environmental rights.

“The Clinic prepares students not only to understand legal principles but also to apply them ethically and responsibly in society,” said Dr. Saqer Eid Alroies, Director of the Legal and Human Rights Clinic. “Through practical training, workshops, and community service, our students develop the skills and values needed to advance human rights and promote civic awareness in Bahrain.”

The Clinic continues to collaborate with public and private partners to provide students with real-world legal experience while fostering human rights, environmental awareness, and professional ethics.
