As part of its community engagement role and commitment to serving society, a number of faculty members from the University of Bahrain participated in delivering a specialized training program in collaboration with Huawei as part of the Youth City 2030 activities.
Faculty members from the College of Information Technology conducted training workshops over a three-week period aimed at training participants on the latest Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The program combined theoretical knowledge with practical implementation, enabling participants to acquire advanced technical skills and prepare for a Huawei-certified professional qualification.
Dr. Wael Al Madani, Associate Professor at the College of Information Technology, delivered a training workshop entitled “HCIA-IoT.”
This initiative reflects the University of Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with community institutions and contributing to the development and empowerment of young people, helping them keep pace with advancements in the digital era. The program also represents an important step toward enhancing youth capabilities and opening new opportunities in technology and innovation.
The final projects demonstrated participants’ ability to integrate the key components of Internet of Things solutions, beginning with sensing and embedded processing, continuing through connectivity and cloud services, and extending to dashboards, alerts, and user applications. The projects were evaluated through presentations and live practical demonstrations, with emphasis on system design, implementation quality, sensing, connectivity, cloud integration, application development, overall system integration, practical presentation, documentation, and technical understanding.
The participants were assessed by a judging panel composed of specialists, including Dr. Abdullah Al Dossari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the College of Information Technology.
