University of Bahrain Showcases Digital Innovation and Academic Programs at GITEX Global 2024
The University of Bahrain (UOB) participated in GITEX Global 2024, held from 14 to 18 October at the Dubai World Trade Centre, as part of the Bahrain Digital Content Winners Pavilion, highlighting the University’s achievements in digital transformation, innovative academic programs, and technology-enabled higher education.
UOB was invited to join the pavilion following its recognition as a Bahrain Digital Content Award winner for its eAdmission service. The Bahrain Digital Content Winners Pavilion was established to showcase leading Bahraini e-services from government and private-sector organizations to an international audience, while creating opportunities for interaction, knowledge exchange, and potential business cooperation.
Through its participation, the University showcased its award-winning eAdmission service as one of its successful digital transformation initiatives. The service demonstrates UOB’s continued efforts to use technology to enhance access to university services and improve the experience of prospective students.
The participation also provided an international platform to promote UOB’s contemporary academic programs in information and communication technology and emerging digital fields. These included programs in machine learning and intelligent computing, artificial intelligence engineering, big data science and analytics, and business analytics, reflecting the University’s commitment to preparing graduates with knowledge and skills aligned with evolving digital and technological needs.
UOB further highlighted its experience in cloud-based digital transformation, including the migration of its core IT infrastructure and applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This experience formed part of the University’s wider presentation of its institutional digital transformation and adoption of advanced technologies to support academic and administrative services.
Participation in GITEX Global 2024 enabled the University to present its academic and technological capabilities within a major international technology environment, while engaging with government entities, technology companies, industry representatives, and other organizations. It also supported opportunities to exchange digital best practices, strengthen cross-sector engagement, explore future cooperation, and showcase Bahrain’s higher-education innovation internationally.
Through these efforts, the University of Bahrain continues to advance digital transformation in higher education and strengthen its contribution to innovation, knowledge exchange, and collaboration between academia, government, and industry.
