On March 30, 2026, the University of Bahrain (UOB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The MoU aims to strengthen mutual collaboration between the two parties in the fields of research and scientific publishing, as well as the exchange of academic expertise.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha bint Muhammed Al-Faisal, Secretary-General of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies.
The Memorandum of Understanding includes provisions to encourage research cooperation between the two parties, organize joint lectures, seminars, and workshops, promote participation in conferences and events, and support publishing through collaborative research on topics related to the UNESCO Chair for the Translation of Cultures and in peer-reviewed international journals. It also includes the arrangement of academic and expert exchanges through the Chair’s fellowship program and participation in the Translating Cultures Lab, in addition to jointly applying for publication grants for master’s theses and doctoral dissertations offered by the Chair. The MoU further covers the development of joint efforts in the preservation and translation of intangible cultural heritage in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and encourages the involvement of University of Bahrain students and faculty in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair, thereby fostering new generations of researchers.
