University of Bahrain Students Explore Career Pathways in Actuarial Science

The University of Bahrain hosted a workshop titled “Is Actuarial Science Your Future?”

The session presented by Naveed Shahid from Project XXIV Consulting, who delivered key insights into the profession and its expanding opportunities.

Mr. Shahid explored the diverse actuarial roles, covering specializations in life, health, pension, and corporate finance. He introduced the field of investment actuarial science, highlighting the role actuaries play in managing financial risks associated with investment functions, corporate finance, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).

The presentation provided a clear roadmap for professional qualification. Mr. Shahid introduced the Society of Actuaries (SOA) pathways, explaining the progression from affiliate membership to associate and fellow designations. He also viewed exclusive scholarship opportunities offered by the SOA specifically for students enrolled in the UOB Actuarial Science Program.

The session was moderated by Dr. Babacer Seck, Assistant Professor at the College of Science.
