University of Bahrain Trains Staff on Drafting Regulations and Policies
A number of academic and administrative staff members at the University of Bahrain took part in an interactive workshop titled “Skills for Drafting Regulations and Policies at the University of Bahrain,” on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The workshop was organized by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL), in coordination with the University’s Governance Committee for Regulations, Policies, and Procedures.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with the skills needed for drafting regulations and policies, emphasizing that the quality of drafting directly impacts the accurate understanding of texts, their proper implementation, and their future review and development. It also underscored the importance of adhering to drafting controls related to content, structure, and language.
The workshop covered several key themes, including the general principles of legislative drafting, grounded in the rules and guidelines governing sound legal drafting for regulations and policies. It also addressed the components and requirements of policy drafting at the University of Bahrain, in addition to skills for using artificial intelligence to prepare accurate and acceptable policy drafts.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Basem Mohammed Al Sharji, Assistant Professor at the College of Law, University of Bahrain.
