University of Bahrain’s 6th International Scientific Nursing Forum Highlights Latest Developments in the Profession

The College of Health and Sports Sciences at the University of Bahrain organized the 6th International Nursing Forum, coinciding with International Nurses Day, with the participation of a group of specialists as well as academic and professional leaders in the nursing sector from both within and outside Bahrain.
The forum discussed the latest developments in the field of nursing, the current challenges facing the profession, and ways to develop nursing education and enhance the efficiency of personnel working in various health specialties.
The forum highlighted the role played by nurses in the Kingdom of Bahrain across healthcare sectors, in addition to reviewing the contributions of the Nursing Department at the College of Health and Sports Sciences, which has graduated over 6,000 nurses in specialties such as: midwifery and obstetrics, cardiovascular nursing, emergency nursing and critical care nursing.
Dr. Leena M. Khonji, Dean of the College of Health and Sports Sciences, along with a group of prominent local and international speakers attended the forum, including: Mr. Abdulmajeed Al-Enzi, 2023 Florence Nightingale Medal recipient from Saudi Arabia, which is the highest honorary medal given to nurses in the world, Prof. Huda Al-Nomani, Dean of the College of Nursing at Sultan Qaboos University, and Prof. Parveen Azam from the University of Sheffield, UK.
The forum included Panel discussions featured nursing leaders from Bahrain and abroad, including: Dr. Fatema Khalil Ebrahim, Acting Dean of the Royal Medical Services College of Nursing and Health Sciences; Fatima Khairallah, Chief Nursing Officer at Government Hospitals; Shaneen Mohabbat, Health Promotion Officer at the World Health Organization in Bahrain; Dr. Rabab Idris, Head of Nurse Training at the Department of Training and Development at Government Hospitals; and Dr. Noha Al Attawi, Deputy Dean of the College of Nursing at Tabuk University in Saudi Arabia.
