University of Bahrain’s “A Drop of Your Blood Is a Shield for the Nation” Campaign Collects 60 Units of Blood in Two Hours

The University of Bahrain’s annual blood donation campaign, “A Drop of Your Blood Is a Shield for the Nation,” drew an impressive turnout in its sixth edition, collecting 60 units of blood in just two hours. The campaign was held on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at the university’s Sakhir campus, in cooperation with the Central Blood Bank of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

University members, including academic staff, administrative staff, and students, turned out in large numbers, with more than 106 people registering and taking part within the first two hours of registration opening. Medical screening cleared a number of applicants to donate, resulting in 60 units collected, a reflection of the university community’s humanitarian spirit and its engagement with initiatives that support the health sector.

The University’s Health Services Department organized the campaign, ensuring a smooth experience for donors from registration and medical screening to vital-sign checks to confirm eligibility, and then through donation and the rest areas, in line with approved health requirements. Coordination with the Central Blood Bank helped the campaign handle the high turnout and keep waiting times short.

University management stated that holding the campaign for the sixth consecutive year reflects the University of Bahrain’s commitment to its social and humanitarian mission. It also strengthens the university’s contribution to the Central Blood Bank’s strategic reserves, helping to supply blood for patients and injured people in the Kingdom’s hospitals and health centers.
