UOB College of Arts Faculty Explore University’s AI Usage Policy

Faculty members from the College of Arts at the University of Bahrain were introduced to the university’s general guidelines and policies on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies during an interactive workshop. The workshop was organized by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL), under the title “AI Usage Policy at the University of Bahrain.”

Dr. Raed Ebrahim Al-Jowder, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering, and a member of the UTEL Training Team, presented the university’s new policy on AI use, which was approved in June. The session aimed to raise awareness among the College of Arts’ academic staff on various aspects of AI and its applications in teaching.

The workshop featured an engaging discussion among participants, where faculty members explored ways to integrate AI to enhance the educational process. They also reviewed the procedures for handling policy violations, emphasizing the importance of transparency and disclosure when using AI tools, as well as the need to avoid overreliance on AI to preserve the essential human role in education and learning.
