WHO assesses the University of Bahrain as a WHO health-promoting university
On 19 November 2025, @whobahrain, in coordination with @mohbahrain, and @hec.bahrain visited the University of Bahrain (UoB) as part of the health-promoting university programme.
During the field visit, the evaluation team met with university leadership, faculty members, and students, observed ongoing initiatives, and reviewed institutional policies supporting health and well-being on campus.
The University of Bahrain is one of the most established public universities in the Kingdom, founded in 1986. It plays a distinguished role in graduating qualified professionals across various disciplines. It is the eighth academic institution in Bahrain expressing its commitment to becoming a health-promoting university.
To date, Ahlia University, American University of Bahrain, Arabian Gulf University, Kingdom University, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain, University of Technology Bahrain, and University College Bahrain have been designated as health-promoting universities in Bahrain.
