UOB Holds a Symposium on Heritage of Bahraini Swords

The College of Arts at University of Bahrain, organized a symposium titled “Bahrain’s Progeny: Heritage and Glory” The symposium featured speeches by Shaikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Khalifa, Shaikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Engineer Hamad Bin Yousif Alghatam from the “Al-Kray” team.

The symposium aimed to introduce students to the history of swords in the Kingdom of Bahrain and their role in cultural heritage, as a symbol of rooting Bahraini identity, promoting the values of responsible citizenship, and emphasizing the significance of swords among the Al Khalifa rulers since the era of the founder, Shaikh Ahmed Bin Muhammad Al-Fateh. It also highlighted the deep meanings swords carry in the national consciousness and the strong connection they reflect between wise leadership, history, and heritage. The symposium also included an innovative interactive experience using three-dimensional (3D) technology, blending modern technology with traditional culture, thereby contributing to the advancement of interdisciplinary studies that integrate technical sciences and the humanities.

The event featured the introduction of the AI-powered virtual guide “BuNasser,” specialized in the history of Bahraini swords, alongside an accompanying presentation by the Bahraini Ardha Association under the supervision of Mr. Feras Yahya Althawadi. The symposium was moderated by Dr. Ahlam Rashid Al-Qasimi, Head of the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Bahrain.
