UOB President Congratulates Winners of Bahrain Islamic Bank Forum Award
Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, received the winners of the third Bahrain Islamic Bank Forum on Islamic Banking Transactions on Monday (May 5, 2025) at the University’s headquarters in Sakhir.
Dr. Al-Ansari congratulated Esam Mohamed Al-Bastaki, a faculty member in the Department of Islamic Banking, for winning the first prize—a postgraduate scholarship awarded for the best academic research or project contributing to Islamic finance development in Bahrain. His winning research was titled: “Sharia Governance of Islamic Banks and Windows in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”
He also congratulated Mohamed Yasser Al-Khedri, faculty member in the same department, for securing the second prize, a one-year internship at the Sharia Supervisory Board of Bahrain Islamic Bank.
Dr. Al-Ansari expressed pride in the winners’ achievements, commending their outstanding academic efforts. He emphasized that this recognition not only highlights their excellence but also underscores UOB’s leading role in advancing research that supports the Islamic banking sector. “This award is a key platform for encouraging innovation in Islamic finance, and we take pride in the University of Bahrain’s significant contributions to this field,” he added.
The winners were honored during the 23rd Annual AAOIFI Sharia Conference held in April 2025.
