UOB Staff Participate in Interactive Workshop on Sustainability
University of Bahrain staff participated in an interactive workshop titled “Your Work is Our Future: Towards Sustainability at the University of Bahrain”. The event was organized by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL), aiming to reinforce the application of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the various roles of university staff.
Dr. Muna Ebrahim Yusuf, Assistant Professor at the Bahrain Teachers College, outlined the University of Bahrain’s strategic vision and the UN SDGs, connecting staff responsibilities directly to these objectives. The session enhanced understanding of the relationship between the university’s core values and sustainability, linking them to practical applications within academic and administrative departments.
Dr. Yusuf emphasized the critical importance of sustainability in educational institutions and presented innovative, practical ideas for integrating it into the educational field. She detailed the three core pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic.
The workshop highlighted the significant role universities play in promoting sustainability, given their pivotal position in preparing future leaders, generating knowledge, and contributing to innovation and community service. This is achieved by embodying best practices and proactively addressing future challenges.
