UOB Wins First Place in BBK “FinSec Knights” Hackathon Powered by INJAZ Bahrain
Two teams of University of Bahrain students recently secured first place in the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) “FinSec Knights hackathon” Powered by INJAZ Bahrain. This event was organized in collaboration with the University INJAZ Bahrain Coordination Committee.
The hackathon provided students with a unique opportunity to collaborate with like-minded peers, tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges, and showcase their creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Participants faced two challenges during the event: identifying security vulnerabilities in a simulated mobile banking app and designing a password-less authentication system that ensures seamless and secure login. The hackathon took place over three days (April 14, 15, and 17, 2025) at HQ by Hope in Seef Complex, with 18 teams from various universities across Bahrain competing.
In addition to the challenges, the hackathon offered students the chance to engage with industry leaders and innovators. Workshops led by experts helped participants enhance their knowledge and skills. The collaborative environment fostered idea exchange among peers working to develop effective solutions. As part of the event, students also visited a BBK branch to learn about the bank’s services, products, and operations.
The winning teams included students from the College of Information Technology: Adnan Munir Jabri, Maryam Abdulghani Hassan, Abdulrahman Khalid Idris, Mohammed Salah Shehata, Naama Abdulmajid Mohammed, Kawthar Noureddine Mansour, Ghufran Al-Sheikh Mohammed, Salman Ahmed Haji, and Ali Mohammed Al-Qadi. Also participating was Salman Wael Salman, a student from the College of Science.
