TUITION FEES FOR BAHRAINI STUDENTS

Tuition fees for undergraduate programs at the University of Bahrain will continue to be subsidized for the standard program duration. If the study extends beyond this period, the following tuition fees will apply:

  • Adherence to the approved semester count for graduation is mandatory.
  • Summer semesters and the orientation program are not counted toward the maximum limit.
  • Support includes Children of Bahraini mother and Bahraini wife.
  • Tuition fees for non-Bahraini students remain fixed throughout their study period.

HOW TO CALCULATE TUITION FEES

Each course consists of a number of credit hours, and most courses consist of 3 credit hours. Example of a Bahraini student’s tuition fee for a bachelor’s course, 1 hour is 8 BD, the tuition will be 8×3=BD 24.

If the student registered 5 courses for the semester, the tuition fee will be 24×5 = BD 120.

The University offers this service for students with low income, where applications to benefit from this service are received and those applications get reviewed according to specific conditions and regulations.

Applications to receive this service will be open for a whole month during the first semester of the academic year, as “Tuition Fees Exemption Application Form” is electronically provided to students during that month, and it shall be announced through the University’s official website and its official social media.

You can apply electronically.

Category 1:

  • Bahraini and non-Bahraini applicants who graduated from public schools (graduates of the current or previous academic year).

They can apply through the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Portal (Bahrain.bh).

Category 2:

  • Bahraini and non-Bahraini graduates of private schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain (graduates of the current or previous academic year).
  • Students of the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology.

6. Can I apply for more than one preference?
Yes. You must select 12 preferences when submitting your admission application, ranked in order of priority, provided you meet the admission requirements for each preference.

Preferences can be edited during the specified application period. No changes can be made after the application period ends.

8. What documents are required to apply?

12. What should I do if I forget my password for the University of Bahrain Electronic Admission System (admission.uob.edu.bh)?

  • Applicants through the University of Bahrain Electronic Admission System: Enter your university ID number in the username field and your password in the password field.
  • Applicants through the National Portal bahrain.bh: Select the “Forgot Password?” link and follow the instructions to reset it — the new password will be sent to your registered phone number.
  • Log in to the system by entering your username (your university ID number) and the new password.

13. Can I cancel my admission application?
Yes.

14. When are admission results announced?
Admission results are announced according to the approved timeline and published through the university’s official channels.

15. I have been accepted — what is the next step?
After the admission result is announced, you must complete the admission confirmation procedures and fulfill any other requirements according to the announced instructions.

16. I was not accepted — can I apply again?
If you were not admitted to the university, this may be due to several reasons, such as incomplete data or required documents, or not meeting the admission requirements. In these cases, the university provides an additional period to complete the data and documents and to reconsider admission applications, in accordance with the specified timeline and approved procedures.

17. Can I apply if I am currently studying at another university?
No.

18. Can I apply if I am outside the Kingdom of Bahrain?
Yes, applications are submitted electronically.

19. How do I contact the Admissions and Registration Deanship if I encounter a problem?

1. What browser is recommended for submitting an admission application through the University of Bahrain Electronic Admission System (admission.uob.edu.bh)?
When applying through the University of Bahrain Electronic Admission System (admission.uob.edu.bh), students are advised to:

  • Use a computer during the application process.
  • Access the website using the Google Chrome browser.
  • Allow pop-up windows to enable navigation to new pages.

2. Can I submit a request to change my preference after the admission confirmation process?
Yes, you may submit a request to change your preference for any program with available vacancies at the time of the request. After completing the admission confirmation process and paying tuition fees, please log back into the admission confirmation screens on the website (admission.uob.edu.bh) and select the “Post Admission Service” to select 12 preferences — within the same confirmation period. Requests will be reviewed after the confirmation period ends, according to the vacancies available in the programs.

3. If I do not pass the admission test for the major I was nominated for, what should I do?
You will be directed — within a specified period after being notified of not passing the admission test — to reapply to the preferences that will be available in order to select an alternative major.

Who is exempt from the Preparatory Program?
Students with the following averages or grades in general secondary school, or its equivalent — subject to the provisions of Article 10 — are exempt from the Preparatory Program:

  • Students with a general secondary school average of no less than 90%.
  • Students with an average grade of no less than 90% across all English language courses in secondary school.
  • Graduates of private schools following the IB, A-Level, or AP systems are exempt from the Preparatory Program.
  • Students holding a valid IELTS certificate with a score of no less than 5.5, or its TOEFL equivalent, provided the student submits the certificate to the university’s English Language Center before starting their studies.
  • Students who obtained a grade of at least (C) in English language coursework at one of the following levels: O-Level, AS-Level, or A-Level. In this case, the exemption request is sent to the English Language Center for review, then approved by the Registration and Academic Advising Department.
  • Students holding an International Baccalaureate (IB) certificate, or its Preparatory Program equivalent, who scored no less than 3 out of 7 at Higher Level (HL), or 4 out of 7 at Standard Level (SL), in English language, across all certificate tracks. The exemption request must be sent to the English Language Center for review, then approved by the Registration and Academic Advising Department.
  • Students holding an Advanced Placement (AP) certificate, or its Preparatory Program equivalent, who scored no less than 3 out of 5 in English language. The exemption request must be sent to the English Language Center for review, then approved by the Registration and Academic Advising Department.

What if my general secondary school average is between 70% and 89.99%?
Students with a general secondary school average between 70% and 89.99% are permitted to sit the English Language Preparatory Program exemption exam administered by the university’s English Language Center. The date and time of the English language placement exam will be sent via SMS.

1. Can I transfer more than once?
Yes, you are entitled to two transfers only.

2. When can I apply for a transfer?
You can apply during the transfer period announced by the university in the academic calendar.

3. What are the conditions for transferring between programs?
Students can review the detailed conditions on the University of Bahrain website.

4. Can I transfer from one program to another within the university?
Yes, a student can apply to transfer between programs at the University of Bahrain in accordance with the approved terms and regulations.

5. Is it possible to transfer to any major?
No, transfers depend on seat availability/vacancies and meeting the specific admission requirements for each program.

6. Can I transfer from one college to another?
Yes, transferring between colleges is possible subject to meeting the conditions and seat availability in the desired program.

7. What conditions must be met to transfer from an associate diploma to a bachelor’s degree?
You can find the full conditions on the Deanship of Admission and Registration page on the university website or through the e-services portal.

8. How are transfer applicants selected?
Admission is based on seat availability and the highest cumulative GPA.

9. Can I transfer if I have only completed 8 credit hours?
Yes, provided the 8 completed hours are equivalent to 3 courses.

10. I am a sponsored student. Am I eligible to apply for a transfer?
Yes, on the condition that you attach a letter of no objection from your sponsoring entity.

11. Am I eligible to apply for a transfer after completing only the foundation semester?
No, you must meet the necessary conditions for transfer, including successfully completing three courses or completing no fewer than 9 and no more than 66 credit hours.

12. Am I eligible to apply for a transfer to a major I previously studied and then transferred out of?
No, that is not permitted.

13. Am I eligible to apply for a transfer to a bachelor’s program after having transferred to an applied program?
You are not eligible to transfer to a bachelor’s program if you had previously transferred from one to an applied program.

14. I am a student who was dismissed from a bachelor’s program. Am I eligible to apply for a transfer to an associate diploma?
A dismissed student is not eligible to apply for a transfer after dismissal.

15. I submitted a transfer application and was then dismissed before the results were announced. Will my application continue to be processed or be cancelled?
The transfer application is cancelled if the student is dismissed from the university.

16. Is my secondary school track considered when I submit a transfer application?
Yes, your secondary school specialization is taken into consideration when you submit your transfer application.

17. Are there fees for submitting a transfer application from one department to another within the same college?
No, there are no fees for that.

18. Are there fees for submitting a transfer application from a major in one college to a different major in another college?
Yes, there is a transfer fee of BD 10.

19. Does transferring affect my cumulative GPA?
Yes, the cumulative GPA is reset and recalculated according to the approved academic system, while taking into account any courses that have been granted equivalency.

20. Will my previously completed courses be counted?
The equivalency of relevant courses is assessed according to university regulations and the new program.

21. Does submitting a transfer application guarantee admission?
No, the transfer application is subject to a competitive selection process and meeting the admission requirements of the desired program.

22. How can I find out the result of my transfer application?
Admission results will be announced via SMS message or through the notification system on your student portal.

23. Can I cancel my transfer application after submitting it?
This can only be done while the application is under review, according to the university’s approved procedures, and also within one week after the transfer results are announced.

24. What happens if my transfer application is rejected?
You will continue in your current program and may apply again in a subsequent transfer period if the conditions are met.

25. Does transferring delay my graduation?
Transferring may affect the duration of your studies depending on which courses are accepted for credit and which are not.

  1. Where and how can I view the schedule of courses offered for the next semester?The course schedule can be viewed through the designated link on the Students page of the University website (uob.edu.bh).
  2. How can I find out when I can register for courses for the next semester?This information is available on the Announcements page of the University website, as well as through the University’s social media channels.
  3. How can I find out who my academic advisor is?You can find this information on your Academic Data page in the Student Information System (SIS). If the name of your academic advisor does not appear, you can contact the relevant academic department.
  4. When should I use the Student Service Center?You can use the Student Service Center to submit and record any issues or inquiries related to course registration. The relevant staff will review and assess the issue, work to find an appropriate solution, or clarify the matter and explain the applicable procedures if needed.
  5. What should I do if the lab time of a new course I want to register for conflicts with the lab time of another registered course or with a lecture?The registration system will display a notification indicating the scheduling conflict. You will then have two options: cancel the course registration request or submit a request to the relevant Head of Department, who may approve or reject the request based on objective academic considerations.
  6. What can I do if the course I want to register for requires approval from the Head of the relevant academic department?The system will allow you to submit a request to the Head of the relevant department in the following cases:
    • Registration for a practical training course.
    • Registration for a course that requires approval from the Head of the academic department.
  7. When should I pay the fees after completing my course registration for the next semester?Fees should be paid between the two semesters, during the Add and Drop period and before classes begin. The payment period and deadline will be announced accordingly.
  8. How can I find out what I have completed from my study plan and what remains, so that I can plan which courses to register for next semester?You can do this through the Degree Audit section available on your Academic Data page.
  9. Is there a way to estimate my cumulative GPA?Yes. You can use the GPA Simulator section, which is also available on your Academic Data page.
