University of Bahrain Participates with Scientific Programs at Youth City 2030

Two faculty members from the University of Bahrain participated in delivering two specialized scientific programs as part of the Youth City 2030 activities.

The programs were delivered over two weeks by faculty members from the College of Science, with the aim of preparing high school students for scientific pathways and enhancing their understanding of simulation techniques and the marine environment. Both programs combined theoretical knowledge with practical application, providing participants with opportunities to develop their scientific and practical skills within university laboratories.

The first program, titled “Beyond the Laboratory: Simulation,” was conducted over two days. The first day provided a theoretical introduction to the importance of scientific experimentation and the fundamentals of simulation and its role in supporting education and research. The second day was dedicated to conducting practical experiments and linking their outcomes to simulation software in the University of Bahrain’s laboratories in Sakhir. The program—presented by Dr. Jawad Al-Saie, Head of the Department of Physics—aimed to prepare students for scientific pathways, highlight the role of simulation as a bridge between theory and practice, and provide direct academic guidance within a laboratory environment.

The second program, titled “Exploring the Marine Environment: Classification and Dissection,” was also conducted over two days. The first day focused on exploring marine biodiversity and enabling participants to classify marine organisms based on their structural and anatomical characteristics. Participants were also introduced to marine adaptations, ecological interactions, food chains, and environmental competition. The second day was dedicated to a hands-on dissection of a cuttlefish in the Biology laboratories at the University of Bahrain. The program—presented by Ms. Yossra El-Tony from the Department of Biology —aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of marine biodiversity and develop their scientific and practical laboratory skills, helping to prepare them for university life and encouraging them to explore related scientific disciplines.

This initiative reflects the University of Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with community institutions and contributing to the development and empowerment of young people to keep pace with scientific advancements. It also represents a valuable step toward enhancing students’ skills and opening new opportunities for them in the fields of life sciences and applied sciences.
