Welcome to the University of Bahrain

Starting university can be a daunting experience — and there’s a lot to learn in your first few weeks. Here are our top tips to help you get started.

Check your UoB Email

All students have a university email address, ID@stu.uob.edu.bh, and we will only communicate with you through this address.

  • Log in to your university email daily so you don’t miss important communication.
  • Use your free Microsoft Office 365 access at office.com (using your university email) to download Microsoft Outlook and set up your university email account.

Activate Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Activate Multi-Factor Authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator app to add an extra layer of protection to your UoB account.

Know your UoB IT Systems

Once your UoB account is activated and your university email is set up, you’ll be able to use the following e-services:

  • Access and explore the Student Information System (SIS) — view academic records, register for courses, check grades and GPA, and view study plans. Visit sis.uob.edu.bh and read the SIS Student Guide.
  • Free Wi-Fi — connect your devices to the campus network (Students Network: student-1x).
  • Password Recovery — reset your password and secure your account at bot.uob.edu.bh, available 24/7.
  • UoB Mobile App — download the app for class attendance, your digital ID, transcripts, and course schedule. Available for iOS and Android.

Make Use of Learning Resources

Once your account is set up, get familiar with the most important systems during your university life: SIS, Microsoft Teams, Blackboard, and your university email.

  • Blackboard — UoB’s official Learning Management System, accessible at blackboard.uob.edu.bh.
  • Office 365 & Email — sign in free at office.com with your university email for the full Office suite, OneDrive cloud storage, and collaboration tools.
  • Microsoft Teams — download and log in free with your university email.
  • Microsoft Outlook — download and set up your university email.
  • MATLAB — develop your MATLAB and Simulink skills, mostly used by science and engineering students.

Manage Your Workload and Plan Ahead

At university, you’re expected to take responsibility for your own learning. A few tips to help manage your time:

  • Check your timetable on SIS in advance so you know what classes and lectures are scheduled.
  • Identify when assessments are due each term and plan accordingly — some lecturers use Blackboard or Teams deadline counters.
  • Avoid falling behind — it can become a downward spiral of non-attendance.
  • When planning your Year 1 courses, check your Academic Plan for Year 2 and 3 pre-requisites.
  • Meet your academic advisor to discuss your study plan.

Welcome to the University of Bahrain. Starting University can be a daunting experience and we know there’s lots to learn during your first few weeks. Here’s some of our top tips to get you started.

  • All students have a university email address ID@stu.uob.edu.bh and we will only communicate with you through a university email.
  • Log in to your university email daily to make sure you don’t miss out on important communication.

Use Microsoft office 365 Free Access www.office.com (click here) using your university email to download Microsoft Outlook (click here) and set up your university email account.

Microsoft Authenticator:   Activate Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using the Microsoft Authenticator app to add an extra layer of protection to your UOB account.

Once your UoB account is activated, and  your university email is set up, you will be able to use the following e-services:

  • Access & explore the Student Information System (SIS). You can access your academic records, register for courses, check grades and GPA, and view study plans.
  • Free WIFI – Stay connected and connect your electronic devices to the university’s campus WIFI. (Students Network: student-1x).
  • Password Recovery: to reset your password and secure your account access, log in to bot.uob.edu.bh. The service is available 24/7.
  • UoB Mobile App – Download the university app for your class attendance to get your digital ID, and view your transcripts and course schedule.

Once your UoB account is activated, and  your university email is set up, you will be able to use the Most Important systems during your university life:

  1. Student Information System(SIS),
  2. Microsoft Teams,
  3. Blackboard System,
  4. and of course your University Email which considered a vital way of communication.

Getting started:

    • Blackboard system is the official Learning Management System (LMS) adopted at UoB. The BB portal can be accessed through https://blackboard.uob.edu.bh/
    • Free Office 365 and Email – Sign in to office 365 (www.office.com)for free using your university email, and get advantage of the FREE Microsoft office suite, cloud storage with OneDrive and collaboration tools.
    • Microsoft Teams – Download Microsoft Teams (click here) and log in (click here) for free using your university email.
    • Microsoft Outlook: Download Microsoft Outlook (click here) and set up your university email.
    • MATLAB: Take advantage of challenging but fun opportunities to develop your MATLAB and Simulink skills and prepare for a promising technical career.  (mostly used by science and engineering students).

  • Student Service Center that will help answer many of your questions. It can be contacted on:
